TachyMon. I used to just let my watch measure it with the normal heart rate app but that often misses things since it’s not continuously measuring. TachyMon does continuously measure by logging as a “workout” session. Like others have pointed out, it does use more battery, but in my experience it’s ...

Probably the best free option you are looking for. ... Just wanted to come back to this thread with a thank you, I have been away from reddit for awhile. You nailed it on the head and didn't suggest something I had to buy. Wahoo has worked great for me the last couple months. ... Open app > ...

Separate subject, I'm partial to Heart Trace 2 app. Also free. There is a phone app and companion watch app. It syncs with google fit and gives fine grained control over the monitoring parameters and much better access to the raw and processed ...

I like HeartGraph, the paid version. It's simple, but also lets you customize zones, how smoothed (or not) the graph is, and how long you want to show on the screens. I love the ability to set heartrate alarms for minimum, maximum, or zones.

If you're more interested in tracking how your heart rate relates to everything else going on, I built an app called Tended that logs symptoms, triggers, energy, food alongside whatever HR data you can get into Apple Health.

HeartWatch, it has nice complications.

With BikeCompanion (disclamer I'm the developer) you can use heart rate monitor for free.

Then for all day charts there are loads. Obviously you can go down to the hour on health. Some have single pay for features which is much better than an app. I use heart watch and heart analyzer. On heart analyzer will often average over a few readings but if you click in you can see all of it.

Many third party apps have subscriptions that attempt it but the issue is that the Apple Watch doesn’t offer nearly enough HR and HRV samples to any app including their own so none will be precise enough to follow. ... Nice. I didn’t know that. Thanks. ... When in a running workout, you can swipe up...

... Just start any "workout" and ... would work. ... No. I never found something like this. ... I really like my Coospo Armband Heart Rate Monitor....

I tried myself right now, and recorded a 10 second "weight training" workout on my phone with a heart rate sensor in the Strava app, and I saved the activity and I can view the heart rate as a plot over time.

You can also set the heart rate measurement to measure "continuously".

That said, the method I use every day is from the Zone2AI app. It calculates my Zone 2 range using heart rate + fitness data from Apple Health (and adjusts daily). I trust it bc it’s surprisingly accurate vs lactate.

I used to use Heart Rate Free but it’s got a glitch at the minute where I can’t get to the actual heart rate checker. I’m not sure if you need both apps for it to work on Argus (I have both apps), but definitely worth checking out!

If I have the watch and more consistent data would it give me things like sleep, strain, etc? ... Yes, all that comes from the watch data and is visible in Flow. Neither whoop nor Polar has a raw dataset that the other doesn’t; just presented differently and with different approaches to calculations...

It’s a one off payment so worth it. It won’t give you much more than the built in heart apps, but organizes the data better on your iphone (if you are monitoring health). There are quite a few useful watch complications and more granular heart rate alerts.

Apple Watch complication works well too. After getting used to it, I like it better than Cardiogram. Seems like it has more metrics as well. ... Empirical Health for Apple Watch has a high resolution heart rate chart, sleep stages, and PDF exports to share with a doctor.
r/AppleWatch
Cardiogram. I think it’s worth the cost. SE watch doesn’t do ECG.
