Personally, if it's complex I'd skip the software and just reach out to someone like Robert Bergman at RPB estate planner if you're in California. I like his blueprint approach to these things and it saves you from those generic templates that cause headaches later.

Wealth Counsel is hailed as the best but for the money, I just don't see the utility in it. I know attorneys who use the forums heavily to help them out but there are other avenues to discover information for free.

Our firm has been using this for 20+ years with our non-taxable estate plans. It’s straightforward to use, integrates seamlessly with the probate form builder, and doesn’t need to much clean up on the back end. I can’t say anything bad about it. There are updates here and there but it’s reliable.

The fee covers the software and updates for the version year (version 2024 gets updates for 2024). I went solo in July and have been using WealthCounsel software for my clients for about 5 years. The managing partner at my old firm who elimintated the estate planning division graciously allowed me to keep using the login since it was paid up through the end of the year.

The two I am currently looking into include Wealth Counsel and Adapt (formely ForeTrust). The appeal of Wealth Counsel is the community forums, the bootcamp (tailored to new estate planning attornys), and the many educational videos included.
