Having owned both the ID.4 and now the EV6, Kia’s app + infotainment is hands down better. With my ID.4 - at least at the time of ownership (2023 model), it would tell you your doors were unlocked…..but you couldn’t lock them. You also had the non-backlit buttons (fixed on the 2024 Pro S models).

Tesla is best just because it... Works. It gives me all relevant info in real time and I can remotely control the vehicle. My Chevy app in comparison is bad. It's hit or miss if it'll tell me the soc and the soc while charging. It doesn't keep a tally of how much kwh I've charged...

Finding chargers is easy enough with the Plugshare app. Finding chargers that work as advertised and aren't constantly packed is largely area-dependent.

Also, it would be a good idea to have the charging network apps installed: Electrify America, ChargePoint and whatever other apps for the EV chargers you plan to use during your rental time.

I think the built in one is decent. But I still recommend ABRP, so you can be prepared ahead of time. Also install electrify America and take advantage of the free charging!
