What Reddit Says About Dog Tracker Apps

I know this is an old thread, but I really like DogBase for logging my service dog training program. It's even got features for logging vet visits, nutrition, really whatever I ned. Best I've seen out there:

Share ... If you ahve good cell signal then Tractive or maybe Fi usually works well. If not good cell or wifi then Garmin or Dogtra have the long range GPS units but fair warning they are spendy.

Never can be too careful. I haven't due to the expense. Air Tag would be good but I have Android also, and Tile just isn't up to pet tracking. The one I was considering is Tractive.

We have no service out there, but the app works perfectly. ... The consensus in the hunting community is that the Garmin line is the best hands down. They work via radio frequency to a handheld and don’t require cell or a subscription.

If your dog is going to be running around on a farm all day, it may be worth looking into the garmin products. The buddy has a garmin unit that appears to be super accurate but it’s overkill for my use case (making sure I can find my dog if she chases after a deer or somehow gets lost).

... Tractive is a solid option. We live in a quite remote area and use a Tractive collar on our beagle. While it doesn’t help me lay hands on her, it definitely lets me know where she actually is.
