There already is an app called “PulsePoint” that will notify you of nearby cardiac arrests EDIT: I somehow missed that first paragraph where they mention PulsePoint in the article.

In my opinion if it only saved one life it would still be worth it. The only problems it has are it obviously doesn't know if a call is miscoded and sometimes it notifies a ton of people which could potentially clog up a scene.

(Yeah, I know there are also CPR manikins with feedback, but the CorPatch Trainers are much cheaper than a new CPR manikin, and I definitely can't get the latter financed in my team :( ) ... In use, it's rather positive, especially with inexperienced helpers (firefighters/first responders)...

I think with the right implementation it could be a great thing in certain parts of the US. The most important things in cardiac arrest are hands on the chest (CPR) and early defibrillation, which this could really help to accomplish.
