Both are paywalled, but I learned my first openings from 2 free openings you get with chess prep and if I ever payed for anything, Noctie would be it, looks really interesting that it creates puzzles based on your mistakes.

I am also a beginner level chess player. I downloaded this Chess app(just called "Chess"), it has assist mode that give you options of moves you can choose, and it will tell you which move is the best move. And how much advantage you get for your move.

If you plan to play OTB it's better not using them. If you are only playing online chess, then use it as much as you want.

They don't worth 100$. Chessbase is a database program. Aquarium is okay, but fritz is more mature/+features. Chess king is new, and it is laughable even compared to arena. Chess assistant is ugly as hell, though it has many buttons everywhere with a windows 95 era look.

If there was a similar product with the same services like upgradable and maintained databases and less complex than Chessbase I would totally buy it.
