Starting in 2026, Apple requires screenshots for the 6.9-inch display class — that's the iPhone 16 Pro Max. If you're submitting a new app or update, this is the one size you can't skip.
The Exact Dimensions
| Orientation | Width | Height |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait | 1320 px | 2868 px |
| Landscape | 2868 px | 1320 px |
Format: PNG or JPEG. No transparency. No rounded corners — Apple adds those automatically on the store page.
Is This the Only Required Size?
For iPhones, yes — 6.9" is the only mandatory class for new submissions. Apple auto-scales for smaller devices. But if you want pixel-perfect results on every device, see our complete screenshot sizes guide for all supported dimensions.
What About iPad?
If your app supports iPad, you also need the 13" iPad Pro (2064 × 2752). Again, Apple scales from there.
Design Tips for 6.9"
- Text size: Minimum 48px for headlines at this resolution. Smaller gets lost in search results.
- Safe zones: Keep key content away from top 120px and bottom 100px — status bar and home indicator zones.
- Device mockup: Use iPhone 16 Pro Max frames with the titanium bezels for authenticity.
- Test at 50%: Shrink to 660×1434 — that's roughly search result size. If you can't read it, the text is too small.
Common Rejection Reasons
- Wrong pixel dimensions (even 1px off = rejection)
- Alpha channel in PNG (transparency not allowed)
- Screenshot doesn't reflect actual app UI
- Promotional text takes up more than 20% of the image
