We analyzed 72 negative reviews of Hand Talk: ASL Sign Language from the App Store. Here's what users are saying.
Fundamental linguistic inaccuracy - uses incorrect/outdated signs, PSE instead of ASL grammar, excessive fingerspelling, and lacks Deaf expert consultation. Combined with severe technical instability (crashes, freezing, loading issues).
"Its clear that the developer team did not consult with Deaf ASL experts on this design. Many of the signs are wrong, outdated, and do not use ASL grammar or sentence structure"
"This app is not teaching ASL, they are teaching PSE (pidgin sign language)"
I LOVED this app- but not anymore!!!! I showed this app to my young grandkids as we have a deaf family member & they loved it as well. This morning I went on the app and I noticed across the very top of the page there were very suggestive pictures of young women! Looked like porn to me!!! What the h...
I love the idea of this. However i need Spanish sign language translation added
I saw this app on social media and it was signing lyrics and I wanted to do let down my radio head and I downloaded it I kept getting kicked off the app and I kept trying to get back on and I couldn’t I’m on a iPhone 11 and I’ve never had a problem like this.
For context, I am a hearing person who has been using this app on and off for a few months in order to better learn and understand ASL grammar. I have been learning ASL on and off, on my own for the past two years. I think the concept behind this app is genuinely intriguing and is beneficial in the...
I sent a translation to my cousin because I’ve been wanting to communicate with him since I was young. I shared the link to finally communicate with him through an app, instead, THE LINK BECAME AN ADVERTISEMENT. I was embarrassed and explained myself but I wish I didn’t install this application.
It’s a decent app, but it crashes way to much. There are also signs that they fingerspell even thought I know 100% that there is a sign for and know the sign. Please fix these things.
When needed the app will not open! In a school where I have hearing impaired children in my classes it would help when the service providers aren’t here, but it never opens sadly , but it’s a great app when it’s working
Can’t even open the app😭
