We analyzed 257 negative reviews of eBird from the App Store. Here's what users are saying.
Prioritizes citizen science data collection over user experience, forcing complex workflows, mandatory location tracking, and online connectivity that alienate casual birders
"After using eBird extensively for 8-9 years daily I abandoned the platform. The review process was handled in a very unprofessional manner. eBird only cares about collecting data, not about the integrity of the data."
"Since this was developed to support citizen science, this app wants more detail than the average birder may want to interrupt their birding to provide."
I can’t get past a page that says choose a pack AND IT DOESNT LET ME CHOOOSE so dumb right
Finding it impossible to create lists, particularly when traveling. Can’t you just integrate the capability into Merlin ?
Installed and signed in. I get to the “install a pack” and can’t do anything. No matter where I click on that page, nothing happens.
Birders are VERY serious about telling you that you are wrong. I thought it would be fun to submit what I saw at my video bird feeders. I proceeded to receive no less than 6 emails telling that was not the correct species of bird. Don’t do it / Don’t download this app. You will nothing but rejection...
Rarely does it let you search for recents posts in different areas. You can find different species in your current location but with the update you can’t consistently pick a location outside a 30 mile radius.
Before we drive 90 minutes to get somewhere we try to look up any reviews. This app is useless for finding something unless you are already there. LOL You get the 30 miles around where you are. Shame, this seemed like such an opportunity. At least their website lets you “Explore” by names.
App use to work great and I really enjoyed it. Now it’s plagued with bugs and glitches. I’ve done everything on my side to make it usable to avail. Can no longer determine my position and the crashes. Giant loop of broken
Downloaded and created a new account. Verified my email. But the app won’t log in at all. Closed and restarted the app, same error. I’m connected to internet and mobile but the app is not working
